Reign of the Black Empire is approaching with Theorycrafting broadcasts, a Pre-Release Tavern Brawl, Community Days, and an early preview of Patch 37.0. The expansion unlocks on October 20.
Theorycrafting Streams: October 6–9
Participating creators will test Reign of the Black Empire decks across several regions and days. Streams will run on each creator’s own channel.
Devs vs. Streamers Schedule
Team Dev and Team Streamer will compete during the event. Every five wins recorded by Team Streamer will unlock surprise rewards for randomly selected Theorycrafting participants to share with their communities.
- NA/LATAM/EMEA: October 6, 8:00 a.m. PDT–1:00 p.m. PDT, and October 7, 12:00 p.m. PDT–6:00 p.m. PDT.
- APAC: October 7, 2:00 a.m. PDT–8:00 a.m. PDT.
- CN: October 8–9, 4:00 p.m. PDT–8:00 a.m. PDT.
Developers will participate during the opening play session. An on-stream score tracker will follow the Devs vs. Streamers competition.
The Old God’s Gauntlet
Dates: October 8–9.
Rarran and DaneHearth will host a two-day gauntlet featuring custom rules and unusual match conditions.
TheoryCasting and Drops
Raven, Sottle, Edelweiss, and Lorinda will cover deck experiments, card interactions, and the Devs vs. Streamers results.
Drops will be enabled across the Hearthstone category during Theorycrafting:
- October 6: 1x Reign of The Black Empire Pack after 60 minutes of watch time.
- October 7: 1x Reign of the Black Empire Pack after 60 minutes of watch time.
Pre-Release Tavern Brawl: October 13–20
The Pre-Release Tavern Brawl provides early access to Reign of the Black Empire through an updated deck-building format.
- Decks may contain only cards from Reign of the Black Empire.
- Players choose a predefined multi-class combination before building their deck.
- Most choices combine three classes.
- One special two-class combination has enhanced C'Thun synergies.
- All players receive access to the expansion’s Common and Rare cards as free Trial Cards during the event.
The Trial Cards are available only inside this event and are not permanently added to a player’s collection. Permanent copies can be obtained from Reign of the Black Empire packs.
Entry and Run Rules
- The first entry is free for every player.
- Each additional entry costs 2 Tavern Tickets, 300 Gold, or 400 Runestones.
- A deck is locked in for the run.
- Each run ends at 6 wins or 3 losses.
- New-card rewards increase based on the run’s performance.
Community Days: October 13–17
Community Days runs from October 13 at 10:00 a.m. PDT until October 17 at 10:00 a.m. PDT.
Watching participating Hearthstone streams during this window can award up to:
- 3x Standard Packs.
- 2x Tavern Tickets.
Patch 37.0 Preview
Theorycrafting broadcasts will also provide an early look at features, events, and collectibles planned for Patch 37.0.
The New Journal
The redesigned Journal will bring together story content, events, Tavern Brawls, free rewards, and other activities. It will become available to everyone with Patch 37.0.
30 Years of Terror
A Hearthstone crossover featuring Diablo will include a new in-game event, the return of a previous Tavern Brawl, and themed Shop rewards. The new Journal may offer an early preview, with full details to follow.
Old God Collectibles
Upcoming collectibles include:
- Y'Shaarj Mythic Hero Skin.
- N'Zoth Pet.
- C'Thun Signature Card.
- An Old God Card Back featuring all four Old Gods, earned through a special collector Achievement in Patch 37.0.
